Missionaries

Sarah PriorSarah Prior

Sarah is a BMS missionary in Nepal working with the International Nepal Fellowship (INF) which is primarily a medical mission. Having lived in Pokhara (where the headquarters of INF are based) for the majority of the 16 months, she now lives in Surkhet in the Mid-West district of the country. Her role in the team is to teach the children of the ex-pats. This is an important role, as without a teacher many parents would struggle with home-schooling or the problem of sending their children to a Nepali school which is a completely different system.

"Our new school year started at the beginning of August. The timetable has changed to accommodate the two school-aged children and then David as pre-school. We now have a Nepali didi called Ratna working in school to look after David and Amy for four hours a week. This frees me to focus more on Laura. As well as her English schooling, Laura now has to work more seriously on her German as she will go into a German school next summer when she and her family are on home leave."

The Spencer familyThe Spencer family

Mike and Donna Spencer, together with their two sons, Luke and Jonathan are living and working full-time in France. Based in Albertville in the Alps, Mike and Donna work alongside the local church in worship, teaching and discipleship training, and are looking to plant a new church in the neighbouring Maurienne valley. They also have a vision for establishing a "place of refuge" for Christians to rest and recuperate in an atmosphere of worship and community.

France is one of the largest mission fields in Europe with an evangelical Christian population amounting to only 0.7% of its population, but 8-10% of the population is Moslem.  Luke and Jonathan are studying in "Lycée" for their Baccalaureates. Both are active in the church and participate with the worship.

The Owen family

The Owen family

The Owens live and work in South East Asia serving minority language groups with translation and language development.  There are hundreds of languages in this region and millions of people are without the Good News in their own language.  They are in the early stages of working with the Nai-Sun people.  Here is an extract from a recent newsletter:

"As we have looked at the results of the Nai-Sun survey it is clear that there is a strong case for a Nai-Sun translation project.  Having ‘the message’ in their own language and script would remove one of the barriers that prevent the Nai-Sun people hearing and receiving the Good News."
